The law for a “motion to set aside a conviction”, also known as an expungement, was amended in the fall of 2021. The new statute allows more people to qualify for an expungement, including 1 offense of drunk driving, which is great news. Convictions on your public criminal record can make it hard for you to obtain employment, professional licenses, housing, et cetera. Expungement allows individuals who have qualifying convictions, the opportunity to have it removed from their public criminal record. In turn, allowing them to move on with their life and begin rebuilding their reputation.
